Pesticide Safety Distance Education Class: 

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is a major partner in all the activities at the AGITC. Besides helping with technology and distance capability, ACES staff teach all or part of many educational meetings each year. Recently, with the permission of the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, ACES has launched a new Pesticide Safety Distance Education class that can be taken at home or work at anytime of the year.

If you wish to gain recertification points for any license, simply do the following:

  • Call Alabama Cooperative Extension System Certification Coordinator, David Hubbard @ 205-612-0758 or 205-981-2326 or email @ hubbadh@aces.edu.
  • Study the supplied national pesticide core manual and power point presentations and learn a tremendous amount about modern pesticide usage. You really will be surprised about how much you can learn!!!
  • Take and pass a short quiz at the designated ACES office in your area and your point sign-in sheet will be delivered to the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries.

 ACES Green Industry Certificates :

  • ACES/ Alabama Nursery & Landscape Association's Certified Landscape Professional Program - this initial green industry certification is designed to educate and certify that you and your employees have the knowledge to succeed in the landscape industry. The class is offered year around in a study at home format culminating in a practical and written exam. Additionally, several times per year, the AGITC and ACES staff will teach a series of day or night classes to help those who learn better with live instruction. 

  • ALABAMA CERTIFIED LANDSCAPE PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM FEBRUARY 2, 9, 16 & 23, 2012 9:00 AM TO 3:00 PM 

The Alabama Green Industry Training Center, Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Alabama Landscape and Nursery Association and the City of Daphne will be presenting and hosting an Alabama Certified Landscape Professional Program at the Daphne City Hall. 

Participants will learn pruning, planting, pest management, plant identification and use, turf management and much more to progress in their careers. Participants will learn during class lectures, hands-on labs and on the Web from numerous industry educators and professionals.

Tuition includes four day-long classes, textbook, web-based support for one year, membership in the Alabama Nursery and Landscape Association and the opportunity to pass the ALCLP Exam and earn the prestigious industry certification. 

Agenda: Classes meet at the Daphne City Hall, four Thursdays in February from 9:00 – 3:30 each day. 

February 2, Landscape Pest Management – learn more about managing insect, disease, weed and non-pathogenic pests in the landscapes you supervise. This class will also award 10 pesticide recertification points for the OTPS/OTPC licenses and will help prepare you for either exam. Note: you may take this class as an individual offering for $42 and you will also earn the 10 recertification points. 

February 9, Planting, Pruning, Fertilization and Turf Management – an excellent class for those who install and maintain landscape and turf plantings and want to learn modern, research-based information.

February 16, Landscape Design and Plant Materials  - become more confident with your design and plant selection as learn from regional experts. 

February 23, ALCLP Exam Review and Exams – participants will be given a three-hour review and refresher before the practical and paper exams begin @ 1:00 PM.
